About Us

SJO is owned by husband and wife, Michael "Mike" and Samantha "Sam" Wells. As long-time residents of San Juan County, New Mexico, they are situated near some world-class hunting and fishing. SJO operates as a home-based FFL and gunsmithing shop that has been serving customers since January 2019. We specialize in gunsmithing repairs, while also facilitating firearms technology services such as FFL and SOT transfers, along with laser engraving. Our goal is to be a "one stop shop" for SOT transfers, as we handle the fingerprinting digitally in-house and complete all paperwork collaboratively with our customers. We ensure that suppressor transfers are managed efficiently, including threading barrels when necessary. All of this is offered at an affordable cost with superior customer service, which is the cornerstone of our business model.

Sam is a dedicated 16-year tenured Physical Therapist Assistant. In 2024, Sam graduated from Modern Gun School with her Advanced Gunsmithing Certificate, where she excelled in firearms technology and gained expertise in gunsmithing repairs, graduating with honors.

Mike is a 20-year veteran of public safety, encompassing roles in firefighting, paramedic services, and currently serving as an active Police Sergeant for a local Police Department. He graduated from Sonoran Desert Institute with an associate's degree in firearms technology, earning the distinction of Summa Cum Laude in June 2025, thanks to a full ride scholarship from the Paul Jackson Memorial Scholarship Foundation. His expertise also extends to gunsmithing repairs, and he is knowledgeable about suppressor transfers.
